Mykonos, part of the Cyclades island group, is one of the most popular and glamorousiGreek islands and a place that I am never tired to visit.

If you like to travel “Pink Bubble style” here you’ll find 10 tips to enjoy the best of Mykonos.

Beaches:

1) AGIOS IOANNIS: considered one of the most beautiful beaches of the island and location of the movie “Shirley Valentine”, it’s often protected from the strong wind and host several beach clubs.

My favourite is HIPPIE FISH which hosts a traditional greek restaurant, a peruvian sushi restaurant (Mistura) and a very chic boutique for the shopping addicts like me.

2)PARAGA: one of the smallest and loveliest beaches in Mykonos. It’s worthed to go early in the morning, indulge in a tasty breakfast at KALUA and relax all day in front of the crystalline water.

3)SCORPIOS:

The Property

Sitting on its own peninsula overlooking Paraga and Kavos lagoons this is defnitely the hottest opening of the season.

4)AGIOIS SIOSTIS: Perfect spot to head to if you want to get away from the party life and experience some authentic greek life style.

I recommend to go there early, swim in the beautiful and regenerating water, sit on the red rocks for a meditation at the sound of the wind if you like so, then head to Kiki’s tavern for the best meal you can have on the island, sitting under a tree overviewing the sea.

Whatever the waiting time is going to be it’s definitely worthed: sip your wine, socialize with the crowd and forget about everything: after all, you are on holiday!

Don’t miss a visit to the beautiful church underneath the tavern.

Sunset:

5) ALEMAGOU BEACH BAR @ FTELIA BEACH: This is the perfect place to relax in a boho atmospheare while sipping nice cocktails and waiting for the sunset accompained by very nice house/lounge music.

Worthed to go earlier as well since the restaurant serves freshly produced excellent food.

One of the best memories in Mykonos despite during my last 2 visits I couldn’t go due to private events.

Ftelia Beach

6)BREEZE: Probably the most romantic place to watch the sunset. Park your car close to the windmills, then walk down towards the sea, sit down and let the waves sprinkle your feet while the sun goes down just in front of you for one of the most spectacular evening of your life.

In town:

7)NAUTILUS: get lost in the Chora while looking for Nautilus, a family restaurant Co-owned by beautiful Vasili Theodorou, a lady who will always make you feel welcome and at home. The food is extremely fresh, everything is delicious, prepared and served with Greek Love.

8)ELIXIR GALLERY: if you haven’t had enough of shopping this is another place not to miss. Opened since last year, this progressive space made my husband and I totally fall in love with the design, the materials and their brand selection. Mario Testino was browsing around when I walked in (just saying…)

Nightlife:

9)QUEEN, SCARPA & MONI: At the center of the Chora, Queen is the perfect place to meet your friends and start the night. Great cocktails, extremely friendly (and good looking) staff and good music will keep you up untill late. When you’ll need a change of scene walk to Scarpa in Little Venice for some extra house bits and a youthful scene; then to Moni, a club created by international Mykonians to created this elegant club to make feel their friends at home while visiting their island. The name (in greek moni means “alone”) was inspired by the near church of Agia Moni which, unlike all others churches on the island built in pairs, was built in the name of a father and son who sailed the sea for work in order to protect them on their journey.

To stay:

10) VILLA CREW:  A stunning interior designed property owned by a wonderful British Family, it’s the most stylish choice you can make, especially if you are a big group of people or families.

The view on the Aegean sea  is breath taking, the kindest and most expert team of people is at your service 24/7 and it offers a 5 star hotel experience in the comfort of your own private villa. It’s also very suitable for all kind of events from weddings, to parties to fashion shooting.

MY ADVICE:  AVOID NAMMOS  (Psaru Beach) – the biggest show (off) ever seen of poor taste, poor quality and poor service accompanied by the loudest cheesy music. Excellence means something very different to me. A declared rip-off.

Spiaggie:

• AGIOS IOANNIS: considerata una delle spiaggie più belle dell’isola e luogo in cui è stato girato il film “Shirley Valentine”, è spesso protetta dal vento e ospita diversi beach club.

Il mio preferito è HIPPIE FISH, con il suo tradizionale ristorante Greco, un ristorante sushi/peruviano (Mistura) e una bellissima boutique dal gusto molto chic per I fanatici di shopping come me.

• PARAGA: una delle più piccole e adorabili spiaggie di Mykonos. Vale la pena andarci al mattino presto, concedersi una deliziosa colazione da Kalua e rilassarsi tutto il giorno di fronte all’acqua cristallina.
• SCORPIOS: Situato sulla penisola che si affaccia su Paraga e Kavos, è sicuramente la novità più calda dell’estate mikoniana.

Scorpios abbraccia la filosofia del nostro tempo, combinando tradizione e modernità, stile di vita sano e desiderio di connessione ed espansione con persone con lo stesso spirito libero.

Ispirato dai posti più speciali ed energetici del mondo come Ibiza, Tulum, Goa, Bali e Black Rock City, Scorpios ha esteso i confini di beach club a quelli di un centro olistico devoto al Sole. Feathered Night il Giovedì e Cerimonia 528 with dj Lum and guests (vedi articolo Diario di Viaggio: la Mia Ibiza) sono a mio parere i migliori giorni in cui recarsi all’ora del tramonto, ma semplicemente connettetevi con la vostra anima, vi porterà lì a secondo di ciò di cui avrete più bisogno!

Menzione speciale va fatta per il negozio, che si adatta con perfetta armonia con l’intera filosofia del luogo e ospita una capsule collection del brand Caravana Montecristo, un marchio dalla mente italiana che reinterpreta l’antico artigianato messicano dandogli un twist molto contemporaneo che unisce lusso e libertà.

Vk Lillie ha disegnato una collezione esclusiva di gioielli/borse medicinali ispirata alle pratiche e alle tradizioni dei Nativi Americani, create con cristalli e quarzi per rinforzare I chakra.

ADORO!

4)AGIOS SIOSTIS: questo è il posto perfetto se desiderate uscire dallo scenario mondano per vivere l’esperienza dell’autentica cultura e vita greca.

Il mio consiglio è di andarci presto al mattino, immergersi nell’acqua rigenerante, nuotare fino alla punta, sedersi sulla roccia rossa per qualche minuto di contemplazione al suono del vento e delle onde e poi andare alla taverna di Kiki per godersi il miglior pasto di tutta l’isola, seduti all’ombra degli alberi e affacciati sul mare.

Qualunque sia il tempo di attesa ne vale decisamente la pena: sorseggiate un po’ di vino, socializzate con gli ospiti e dimenticatevi di qualunque altra cosa: dopo tutto siete in vacanza!

Non perdete una visita alle splendide chiesette sottostanti il ristorante.

Tramonto:

• ALEMAGOU BEACH BAR @ FTELIA BEACH: questo è il luogo perfetto per rilassarsi in stile bohemien sorseggiando deliziosi cocktails e aspettando il tramonto accompagnati dalla migliore musica house/lounge.

Vale senz’altro la pena andarci anche durante il giorno dal momento che il ristorante è eccellente.

Vi lascerà senz’altro uno dei più bei ricordi sull’isola, nonostante a volte l’accesso venga negate a causa di eventi privati, come è successo a me durante le mie ultime due visite.

5)BREEZE: probabilmente il luogo più romantico per ammirare il tramonto. Parcheggiate vicino ai mulini a vento, camminate verso little Venice e lo troverete subito di fronte a voi. Sedetevi, ordinate il vostro drink preferito e lasciate che le onde spruzzino I vostri piedi mentre il sole scende di fronte a voi durante una delle più spettacolari serate della vostra vita.

In centro:

• NAUTILUS: per trovarlo dovete perdervi nella Chora. Nautilus è un ristorante tipico a gestione familiare di proprietà della bella Vasili Theodorou. Questa allegra signora saprà sempre consigliarvi il meglio della casa e vi farà sempre sentire I benvenuti. Il cibo è freschissimo, tutto è delizioso, preparato e servito con Amore Greco.
• ELIXIR GALLERY: un altro posto da non perdere.se non ne avete ancora abbastanza di shopping.

Aperto dall’anno scorso, questo negozio in stile progressive ha fatto copletamente innamorare sia me che mio marito : dal design, ai materiali, alla loro selezione di brand di abiti e accessori fino ai profumi. Mario Testino stava curiosando qua e là quando siamo arrivati noi …

Nightlife:

9)QUEEN, SCARPA E MONI: Al centro della Chora, Queen è il punto perfetto per incontrare I vostri amici e incominciare la serata. Ottimi cocktails, personale estremamente gentile e buona musica vi terranno svegli fino a tardi. Se desiderate un po’ di extra house bits in un ambiente giovane incamminatevi da Scarpa, a Little Venice; e poi da Moni, un elegante club creato da Mikoniani con esperienza internazionale per far sentire a casa i loro amici durante I loro soggiorni sull’isola. Il nome (in Greco moni significa “solo”) ha preso ispirazione dalla vicina chiesa di Agia Moni che, al contrario di tutte le alter chiese dell’isola che sono state costruite in coppia, è stata costruita da sola e dedicata a un padre e un figlio per proteggerli durante un lungo viaggio in mare intrapreso per lavoro.

Soggiornare:

• VILLA CREW: Questa straordinaria proprietà è composta da due ville arredate con sofisticato design e pezzi d’arte da collezione ed è senz’altro la scelta più stilosa che possiate fare, specialmente se siete un gruppo di amici numeroso o più famiglie.

La vista sul Mar Egeo è mozzafiato, un team gentilissimo ed esperto , selezionato secondo I criteri dell’eccellenza inglese dei proprietari, è a vostra disposizione 24/7 per accompagnarvi con un servizio da hotel a 5 stelle nel comfort della vostra villa privata. Uno chef è disponibile su richiesta, rendendo Villa Crew la location perfetta per qualunque tipo di evento: da matrimoni a feste private a foto shooting.

Da evitare:

NAMMOS (Spiaggia di Psaru): uno dei posti più conosciuti dell’isola, specialmente per l’avvistamento di personaggi famosi, è a mio parere un grande show di cattivo gusto, scarsa qualità, servizio scadente accompagnato da musica troppo alta e veramente cheesy. I prezzi, ovviamente, sono alle stele. L’eccellenza per me ha un altra faccia e un altro significato. Una presa in giro al pubblico dichiarata: sapete cosa aspettarvi.
